What is a soul worth when Heaven doesn't want it, Hell doesn't need it, and God refuses to judge it?
Navid Hassan was a fisherman.
He spent his days at sea, chasing fish, protecting his boat, and making sure nothing interfered with his next catch. So when he encounters a small boat carrying desperate refugees from Syria and Sudan, he makes a simple choice:
He keeps sailing.
The next day, Navid dies in a ridiculous household accident while changing a light bulb.
Death should have been the end.
Instead, it is only the beginning.
Awakening in the afterlife, Navid finds himself face to face with a mysterious being who has the appearance of an ancient jackal-headed guardian of the dead. His fate is decided quickly.
Hell.
There, Navid encounters the Three Fingers, the strange and terrifying servants of Lucifer, and eventually meets the Devil herself — a beautiful young woman with a vicious sense of humour and a surprisingly complicated relationship with God.
But Hell is not what Navid expected.
Neither is Lucifer.
And neither is his own past.
As the boundaries between Heaven, Hell and the Void begin to collapse, Navid discovers that his soul may be far less valuable than he imagined.
