This book is an investigation of the interplay between human psychology and the capitalist economic system. The main question is whether human psychological drives such as personal self-interest enabled the rise of the capitalist economic order, or whether capitalism exploits or even creates in the human mind a desire for more. In this way capitalism may create a human psychological dependence on the desire to acquire more products or services.
