The Song of Achilles

I resisted this book for so long because I don’t love Greek mythology, and LOVED IT!! This is one of my best reads in a long time. Amazing characters and story!

It’s such a beautiful, perfect storm—history, mythology, love, hate, found family, supernatural…I’ll MEVER forget this book and one of my favorite quotes of all time.

Read it, trust me

I put off reading the last twenty pages of this book because I knew it was going to break my heart and it did, but I think the last five pages might have healed a part of it too.

I write this review with the story fresh on my mind. Truly this book is Shakespearic in nature a true blend of poetry of said time and that of the ancient Greeks. A story with more nuance and focus on the (interpretation of the) personal story of Patroclus and Achilles. A story of innocence, honor, pride - but more than that ; life and love as the driving force. Most know how the story ends as does Patroclus know the prophecy, we are left observing it all as he does and it just adds that much more to the story.

My heart aches

while it took me long to read. this book was a very good read. you could feel the emotions and see why the author so well described. this is my favorite book so far.
