A fantastic read, hard to put down. Mysteries within mysteries. Hope there is a series to finish the story.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The characters have good back stories, the plot is well paced and has good detail. All in all a fun read.

The story is interesting but as hard as I tried, there are so many plot devices that it becomes a tedious. If these were just technological plot devices, I could handle it (this is science fiction after all). But these are human action and behavior plot devices. For example, the captain of a star cruiser is found in a space pod unconscious and his ship is missing with no recollection of how it happened. So they put him back in command of another cruiser! Even Picard was relieved of duty and sent back to earth after his encounter with the Borg. This plus stereotypical cast (driven female pilot captain, quiet & mysterious hunk pilot, scatterbrained female pilot, carefree pilot, and careless pilot) forced me to stop half way through. I did try because I first wanted to quit after 10 pages. The author says if you plan to read the trilogy, you should read the second edition of this book instead. That should have been my warning. This would be a fine 10-15 year old reading (if they still read).

Fairely nice character development. Nice plans-within-plans plot, but not your average alien invaders. Some predictable outcomes but a good long read. For a free e-book this has very good depth and length

This was sort of my first sci-fi book download. I loved it. It's a great story and fast read. The characters are all interesting. I just would hate to not be able to finish the story. Looking forward to the next book. I hope it comes soon.

Very good! The author grabs your attention at the very beginning and holds it straight to the end. I will read the sequel as soon as I can.

Considerable depth for a free iBook. This was a page-turner with several unknowns still existing...can't wait for more!
