Sanderson does not disappoint in this unique fantasy story where we get to imagine that the dark one won and reigned for 1000 years. We get a unique magic system, political intrigue, compelling characters, and lots of Sanderson surprises. The book is fantastic and I cannot recommend it enough.

This isn’t my usual read but I couldn’t put it down none the less! Great book. I’m hoping the series will continue to impress. It was refreshing to read fantasy that had a different twist to it. Interesting concept. Highly recommend!!

When I first started reading Mistborn, I had a hard time getting into the book. The setting wasn’t what I was expecting, the story’s pacing in the beginning threw me off, and the multiple character perspectives were initially difficult to follow. Some of the terms and references left me scratching my head, making me go back to see if I had missed something. I am so glad I kept reading because, after the first few chapters, the story took off dramatically. The depth of world-building and scene-setting pulled me in completely. My initial impression—that the story felt disjointed and lacked world-building—was completely inaccurate. Sanderson masterfully immerses you in the world, making you feel as if you are living in it. The settings, characters, and terminology become second nature, seamlessly woven into the narrative. The way information is revealed is one of the book’s greatest strengths. Rather than overwhelming the reader with exposition, Sanderson drip-feeds details about the world, the culture, and the struggles of its people. What initially seems black and white quickly reveals layers of gray, shifting your perspective on characters and their motivations in unexpected ways. I couldn’t put the book down. Mistborn is an incredible and enjoyable read, with compelling characters, a gripping story, and some of the best world-building I’ve ever encountered. If you’re a fan of fantasy, this is a must-read. Give it a chance—you won’t regret it.

I realize this is the first of a huge series so there is a lot of world building involved. Sanderson makes it very digest able, but it’s still a little overwhelming. The story is very good as are the characters. It’s definitely worth a read!

This guy writes some good books! I hope to see them turned into movies someday. But I truly hope they stay true to his books.
