Blah…. couldn’t finish it.

The author chose not to use quotation marks and new paragraphs when different characters spoke, and instead used italics. I feel like it took away from the story, a bit. I was trying to figure out who said what. It’s too bad, because the actual story is lovely. Rules exist for good reasons.

So enjoyed this! Have always loved historical fiction set during WW II. This one was unique—mostly due to the way the author developed the characters “on both sides of the pond”. Like all really good books, I’ll miss them but glad to have known them.

This is a marvellous book following the thread of lived lives over a lifetime. Regardless of one’s own journey the story resonates.

This lovely, beautifully written book will have you falling in love with the characters. The only negative is that all good books must end!
