Nora Goes Off Script

I really enjoyed the first half of this book. But once the angst kicked in, it feels definitely angsty…Personally, I do prefer less angst, more spice, but that’s just me. I can see how the ending works and I see the character growth, but I feel like I needed to hear more about Leo’s point of view especially for the second half. The kids in the story are great, especially Bernadette!

When Nora’s husband, who wasn’t working, takes off on her and their two kids, she isn’t nearly as distraught as she’d assumed she would’ve been. Nora sets down to write a book that she’s been procrastinating and finds that it is this house of he’s, over a century old. She finds to loud silence just he peace necessary for her to focus on finishing her book. She turns it over to her agent and publishers and to her happy surprise she is not only offered a great amount of money when signing her contract but she is also sought out to not only act in the show they’re making her book based off of, but they’ve suggested it takes place in her own home. Soon Nora is busier than ever and when she is honest, she isn’t missing her husband all that much or at all for that matter. Her main character she is axing opposite is one specimen of a man if she’s ever laid eyes on one. Soon she is finding herself at ease with his good looks, his talent on screen and the way he seems to feel at home in her home as she does too. Once the show is wrapped, Nora finds her co star holding a 1/2 full bottle of booze and he asks her so sincerely if he could please remain in the home with her for just a week. The money he has offered her, $7000.00, will make all the difference in her world so she agrees, not because the money was the deciding factor she was planing to say yes anyways. This wouldn’t be a romance, a book full with such sweet content and kind words as well as an insatiable appetite for one another. Yet, as much as I prefer reading fiction historical fiction, comedy, contemporary women’s fiction etc I find I don’t mind reading rom coms if they’re executed right. The characters have undeniable chemistry and the romance and time spent together is relatable as well as fulll of so many instances in which their humor and giddiness will make you laugh along with them. I really enjoyed this book and was happy for both of them to have found the other and to have had the good fortune and mutual respect to make it work and develop deep and meaningful feelings together.

Couldn’t put it down! I woke up in the middle of the night and finished it.

I binge-read it because I just couldn’t put it down.

This was my first read of Monaghan, and it won’t be my last. It was a delightful rom-com with just the right balance of humor, heart, and insight. I feel good read that lingers in all the best ways.

Well told and thoughtful

Nora goes off script is such a refreshing and delicious romance story, but the very last twist was quite unexpected and delightful. Highly recommended!

I loved this book so much I have read it several times. It is so well written, it just sinks you into the story and the world melts away. It is a love story so you know it will not end in tragedy, but if definitely takes you through an emotional rollercoaster. Her characters are likable and relatable. A great read!

This book was so good, I couldn’t stop reading it! I’d stop for whatever reason, and feel myself thinking about what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship between Nora and Leo, how it started slow and cautious and then was full on heated. Her relationship with her family also was a good backbone to this book. It was also fun to see Nora grow as an individual and see her own worth. Loved it!
